Hi, I am Markeith Jones.

Since discovering my talent for visual arts at a young age in Clayton County, Georgia, my journey as an artist has been deeply rooted in passion and dedication. From 2009 onwards, I have consistently honed my skills and expanded my understanding of art, steadily growing as an artist.

One of the most significant highlights of my artistic career occurred in the summer of 2023. During this transformative period, I was fortunate enough to serve as an artist in residence at Morehouse College. I dedicated myself wholeheartedly to completing a series of ten paintings that are now proudly displayed in Wheeler Hall. These captivating artworks were specifically crafted to shed light on the invaluable contributions of black male educators in the classroom.

The impact of my residency at Morehouse College inspired me immensely. As a result, I was offered the esteemed position of communications consultant for the Center of Excellence and Education. In this role, my primary focus involves documenting and capturing the extraordinary journeys of future male educators while also creatively collecting data of past and future educators that have graduated from Morehouse College. It is a privilege to contribute to the celebration and elevation of these inspiring individuals.

Prior to my residency, I had the honor of working alongside the empowering figure of Stacey Abrams in our community. During the gubernatorial campaign, I served as her Director of Photography, embarking on a remarkable adventure to preserve the essence of her movement. Through my lens, I aimed to capture history and document the indomitable spirit of the Abrams for Georgia team.

Beyond these experiences, I have sought to make my mark on the artistic landscape through various avenues. Whether it is creating vibrant and compelling murals or hosting my inaugural art exhibition in Atlanta, Georgia in 2022, I continuously strive to push the boundaries of creativity and leave a lasting impression on those who encounter my work.

As a young black male artist, my drive extends beyond the realm of art itself. Through my artistic expressions, I aspire to inspire, motivate, and uplift others. I aim to challenge preconceived notions, break down barriers, and celebrate the diversity, resilience, and beauty of the shared human experience.
